Bagad Pibau Morgannwg

Bagad Pibau Morgannwg is a small pipe and drum band, with the aims of performing at events in Wales, teaching piping and raising the profile of Welsh bagpipe music. We run a workshop every month at Canolfan a Menter Gymraeg Merthyr, Merthyr Tydfil www.merthyrtudful.com

The new programme started on Saturday 12th November and we are intending to continue every month with a session on Saturday mornings, mid-month. The workshops start at 10.30am until 12.30am and currently costs just £5.00 per person.

The workshops are for aspiring and existing bagpipers and focus on Welsh repertoire for pipes, basic piping techniques, how to articulate and ornament the music, learning by ear, playing as a group and having a lot of fun! Some instruments are available for those people who don’t have their own pipes, or for pipers currently playing different types of bagpipes. The workshops will use the Galician style bagpipe (a common style found along the length of the Atlantic coastal area) in the key of C.
